Exploring Louisiana Agriculture
OVERVIEW
Design a children’s book, Exploring Louisiana Agriculture, educating children about the fundamentals of Louisiana Agriculture.
THE SOLUTION
To bring Exploring Louisiana Agriculture to life, I illustrated the characters Louis and Ana, two pelicans guiding our reader through the journey of learning about Louisiana Agriculture. My client wanted to see layered images on each page that reflected the dialogue between Louis and Ana. Coordinating with Ag in the Classroom volunteer, Sally Ramagos, we traveled the state photographing the commodities from Louisiana farms. This helped create a visually engaging and age-appropriate resource that introduces young students to the importance of agriculture in Louisiana in a fun and accessible way.
The book was later gifted to Louisiana Farm Bureau President Ronnie Anderson. It was selected at the official Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation Ag in the Classroom Ag Literacy book two years in a row by the state committee. This book design also won a bronze Hermes in 2016. Because of its success, 25 commodity bookmarks were developed to go with the book.
